Week 17: Rested and Ready

Hello all!

Big apologies for being so late to the blog this week but we JUST got home from our long anticipated and much appreciated long weekend vacation in the White Mountains and it was just glorious. We are now back, full of autumnal mountain air and ready to power through these last few weeks of the season we have ahead! Since we haven’t been back to the farm yet we have a loose plan of what tomorrow’s share will hold – it should look something like this:

  • Lettuce Heads
  • Salad Mix
  • Arugula
  • Salad Turnips
  • Beets
  • Winter Squash
  • Dill/Cilantro
  • Fennel/Parsley
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Sweet Peppers
  • Hot Peppers
  • Green Toms/Storage Ripened Toms

  • Weather is looking bad tomorrow- anticipate pick-up being in the barn
  • Fruiting crop season is officially over – all tomatoes you are getting now have been picked ahead green and are slowly ripening in storage. This will be the last week!
  • We are hitting full on fall crops now – anticipate lots of greens and hearty roots in your future!
  • We are still on the hunt for next year’s farm plan – I wish I had more to say on this, but we are really taking our time…knowing that our skills and knowledge are of value and looking for a space where that will be appreciated!

Thank you to all who shared our excitement for this wonderful little vacation we got to take. We booked this impulsively back in July when things felt so chaotic amidst COVID, drought, and land-loss. We spent our days reading, talking, napping, playing games, hiking, kayaking, cooking and enjoying an AMAZING wood-fired hot tub…this thing was seriously cool. Anyway, it was so special to have this space to appreciate one another for the only real security we’ve had this season – the mutual support and love we’ve together in this life. In celebration of that magic, we’ve decided to finally lock it in and are so excited to share our engagement with you all and are optimistic and excited about what the future holds. It feels really good to have something to celebrate these days – thanks for being here for such an important part of our journey in this partnership!
