Group B this week!
Wow folks – we’re at the end of our regular season. It’s crazy that we’ve only got one more harvest to go until we say good-bye! But have no fear- that harvest is shaping up to be a hefty one as is this week’s. Here’s what’s coming your way!
- Mustards/Broccoli Rabe/Yukina
- Winter Radish
- Winter Squash
Notes on the share:As you can see – we’re bidding farewell to our braising mix! The squeaky wheel gets the grease here and we heard it was bringing a little too much fire to the taste buds. As it is a cut and come again crop, too many cuts makes for too much heat so we’re benching it for the season. But don’t worry, if you’re missing it just grab a bunch of the mustards to keep the spice in your life!
Notes from the field: Not a whole lot happening here folks – but we are bundling up for the hard frosts ahead at the end of the week. We’ll be double covering lots of our greens to keep them nice and cozy until we harvest them for the Thanksgiving share.
Other notes from us farmers: As things slow down we’re constantly asked what it is we do in the off-season. We’re lucky to say we’ve squirreled away some funds to take a little time off, visit friends and family, and catch up on much needed rest. But we are sure to pick-up some odd jobs to keep us afloat during these days of winter. I (Leslie) work a bit for the Northeast Sustainable Ag Working Group, I also do some babysitting here and there – and am always open to any new skill I can learn, Anthony is setting off to find something that suits him – maybe getting him outside a bit (let us know if you all have any leads!) and Sam is on to working out plans with his dad for their future property purchase and farming adventure. On top of that Anthony and I are already diving in to next years crop plan and projects!
So we’ll be seeing you full-shares and group b-ers this week and then on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 we’ll be see EVERYONE for the big ol Thanksgiving share! I’ll keep putting out weekly post just to keep you all in the loop with the farm’s goings ons – so stay tuned!
Thanks for being here!
