Half-share Group A this week!
Last week was a big week for us, it was our biggest harvest of the season thus far! That’s partially because, for the first time in Second Wind history, we’ve added on a second farmer’s market in Newburgh, NY.

Come see us on Saturdays 10am – 2pm
This market falls on the same day as our Pine Bush market and so our Friday harvest had gotten beefed up! This now means we have 3 days of the week where our number one priority is harvesting and washing veggies – leaving us only 2 regular weekdays to prioritize other farm tasks. It often feels like we don’t have enough time to get through all of our work so we’ve chosen to bump up our hours on farm starting this week and we’re also trying out a new ‘siesta’ schedule – giving us a longer break in the middle of the day when it’s hottest out and working a little later into the cooler evening hours. This schedule brings me back to think about my days farming in Argentina where siesta is the way of life.

We’re starting off the week with a big task – the garlic harvest. This morning we cleared 4 100 ft. beds of garlic. Pulling them out, stacking them in bundles of 10, tying them up, and taking them to hang in the warm/dry barn so that they can cure. This is only the first step in the process – next comes trimming, cleaning, and sorting (more on that later)

The share this week is starting to look a little bit different. It’s starting to get a little too warm for lettuce/salad greens so you can look forward to more fruiting crops in your future (no tomatoes – yet!) Here’s what to expect this week:
- Head Lettuce/Salad Mix
- Braising Mix
- Arugula
- Parsley
- Basil
- Chard
- Kale
- Cabbage
- Celery
- Scallions
- Fennel
- Beets
- Carrots
- Cukes
- Summer Squash
We’ll also have our U-pick flowers open on the farm – 4 stems per share!
See you all at pick-up this week!
