Week 22: Braving the Storm

The wind has been making such an appearance in the last week!
It is hard to keep from stressing during the windy, stormy nights. As I try to remind myself, it doesn’t help one single thing, but alas, I’m still learning to be a farmer.
You decide what can be done, do it as best you can, wait and see, forgive yourself and let it be, whatever comes. It’s like many of life’s efforts that each of us go through!
This season hit me like a storm in many ways. In an overall perspective and on many individual days, I had to buckle down, do what could be done, and just keep going.
My grandmother’s words of encouragement are often bouncing around my head; she says this to me anytime I am stressing out, “Just do the best you can, Lydia. And if that’s not good enough for ’em, move on. That’s all any of us can do.” And what adventures come from this gusto, gumption, and courage!

It’s amazing that there is still so much to harvest–the hard part is getting it out of the field in time for distribution.
The highlight for this week is the Black Futsu pumpkin!
