Spring is turbulent. Warm and bright one moment, then cold and cloudy the next. In heaps of rain, it spews all the tantrums it kept shoved for months under the snowy rug of winter, splattering our boots with mud and rendering the ground miry and movable. Into this ground we sow the first seeds of the season. In the south section of the farm, seedlings of carrots, beets, and spinach not yet an inch tall are emerging from their damp earthy beds; while in the north field, kale, chard, onion, cabbage, and lettuce transplants stand a little taller and proud, nestling their roots in for the season ahead. Close by, underground, peas and potatoes ponder the day they will poke their heads up from the dirt, while the greenhouse bursts at the seams with tiny plant life eagerly awaiting its egress to the outdoors. While spring may toy with our hearts, always beaming sun and warmth upon us only to promptly snatch it away, we can’t deny its generosity as we behold the new green growth of the season in our fields.

As we turn the corner into May, we are growing excited for the beginning of CSA distributions, which kick off the first week of June. We still have a few shareholder spots left, so be sure to sign up if you haven’t already, and spread the word to family and friends!
Keep springing along and enjoying the seasonal ride, everyone!
In sun and warmth,
Alison
We are looking forward to another great season!
Thanks, Karen, same here! 🙂
